| Burscough U14's girls v Euxton Girls Burscough and Euxton clashed again in the west Lancs girls league on a cold and wet Saturday morning at Priory High. The greens of Burscough started brightly in the first half with some good passing football and Kate Murphy creating a couple of chances from the left wing. Burscough took the lead on 10 minutes after some changes from the bench. Centre midfielder Annabel Coombes' shot from inside the box was saved but only for it to fall to Rachael Pagliarulo who side footed it into the net with her first touch of the match. Burs cough continued to move forward in the first half with Sophie Dean on the right and Euxton created some chances of their own but where unable to score. At half time the score stayed at 1-0. Burscough kicked off the second half with the wind behind them and their defence of Heather Johnson and Hannah Stewart dealing with any Euxton attack. Most of the half was Burscough pushing forward looking to increase their lead with Rachel Dickinson, Becky Hesketh and Coombes creating chances but unable to find the back of the net due to some great saves from the Euxton keeper. As the game went on Euxton where looking for an equaliser by catching the greens on the break and their chance came three minutes from the end when the ball fell to their unmarked striker who made the score 1-1. Burscough threw everything at Euxton for the last minutes but Euxton's battling defence kept Burscough out. Final score Burscough 1 Euxton 1 BURSCOUGH DYNAMO V GREAT CROSBY SHARKS 11 - 0 Burscough Dynamo under 9s entertained Great Crosby Sharks under 9s in the 11th match in the Hightown League. The first half was dominated by Burscough who opened the scoring with a goal by Captain for the day Fletcher Foster who got on the end of a fine cross by Jamie Eden. Burscough kept the pressure on and only a fine save from the Crosby keeper saved it from being 2-0. Minutes later Jamie Eden produced a great run ending in a goal to make it 2-0. Burscough kept pressing and further fine goals by Steven Salkeld and Matthew Wright made it 4. The second half was much the same story as the first with the match being one way traffic and despite a lot of effort from Crosby they could not score thanks to fabulous defending from Kieron Wells, Jake Hanson and Steven Salkeld. More goals soon followed by Steven Salkeld, Ryan Linford and Mathew Wright to make it 7-0. The goalkeeper Sam Dainty then had a run out and made it 8-0 with a great back heel kick. A further two goals from Joe Carter, who never stopped running, made it 10-0. An unlucky own goal by Crosby made it 11-0. Man of the match went to Kieron Wells for a great performance in defence and he was unlucky not to score with a firm strike. Crosby did keep trying right up to the end and showed great sportsmanship throughout. Burscough under 12s vs Bamber Bridge under 12s Sunday 20th November 2011 Burscough kick off unbeaten in the league against their rivals Bamber Bridge, who are always looking for a result. Captain today is Jakob Blundell.
Burscough possession led to a shot wide and a corner. Some good passing frustrated the fans as it didn't result in a goal. Then BB fought their way back into the game also winning a corner. Play was tense with chances at both ends. Burscough went close, then chances followed at the other end. Burscough remained solid in defence. Isaac Brewer showed some commitment in goal dominating his box in the first half. Matthew Yates and James Harland kept pushing forward on each wing. Nil nil as they went in at half time.
Fast and furious, end to end from the re-start. BB went close at the off. The ball broke from a throw in leading to a good chance for BB. Several corners were parried with strong keeping, Isaac Brewer putting the ball round the post more than once. One corner too many for Burscough and BB went one nil up from close range from the corner.
Free kick on the edge of the area for Burscough led to a corner from the rebound but still no goal. The ball broke free on the right for BB and then in a piece of individual skill the no 2 went through and put the ball over the keeper for goal number 2.
Colin Bousique Green was cynically felled when clean through and Burscough had another free kick further outside the area this time but didn't capitalise. Then one 10 yards outside the box which hit the crossbar.
More pressure from Burscough with 10 minutes to go. Against the run of play the ball broke free and BB scored again with another good strike. BB the better team on the day. It was an exciting game but not Burscough 's day, although they remain several points clear at the top of the league.
Final score 0-3. Under 9’s Hightown League 5/11/2011 Burscough JFC 3 Marine 3 Burscough will consider this as two points lost rather than a well earner draw which saw the team lose their 100% start to the season. Burscough opened the scoring through Andy Howells only for Marine to quickly equalise. Despite Burscough’s many attempts on goal Marine went 2-1 up, which was against the run of play. Andy Howells eventually pulled one back for burscough to make it 2-2. Owen Laugharne Day then put Burscough 3-2 up with only minutes to go, only for Marine to score a scrappy last gasp equaliser. Burscough’s man of the match was George Senior for the second game running who again like last week stopped the opposition from playing, he was closely followed by Joe Langford who again made some fine saves when called upon. The first 10 minutes saw burscough come close on a number of occasions and it at one stage it felt as though it was going to be one of those games. As soon as Cameron Paterson scored the first the floodgates opened and goals came from Llyod Rimmer, Andy Howells , Daniel Evans and a further 4 goals from Cameron. Burscough’s man of the match was George Senior who was like a rock in both defence and midfield, constantly breaking up Crosby’s attempts at attacking. In goals, Joe Langford gave reassurance to his defence and made some fine saves to keep another clean sheet. BURSCOUGH 4 V 3 LEYLAND ALBION 31 IN A ROW! 30/10/11 Burscough Spartak under 9’s narrowly beat close rivals Leyland Albion in a thrilling 4-3 game to extend their unbeaten run to 31 games. The boys, managed by Jason Spencer and Andrew Forster, showed great character in coming from behind twice. After a great save by keeper Ryan Linford, Albion went ahead before Matthew Wright equalised with an opportunistic strike before half time. Week after week Burscough come strong after the break but Albion once again took the lead early in the second half. Matthew Wright and Fletcher Foster put Spartak ahead with 2 great team goals before Matthew Wright scored the goal of the game cutting in from the left taking on 2 players and smashing home in the top corner for his hat trick. Albion scored late on from a corner but Spartak held out for the victory to keep them on top of the Premiership in the mid Lancs Colts J.F.L. The manager, Jason Spencer, who was delighted with the performance of all his players said the boys are on a great run and should be proud of themselves. They are a credit to Burscough Football Club. Under 9’s Hightown League 15/10/2011 Burscough JFC 9 Belvedere JFC 3 Burscough delivered another quality display to make it five wins out of five against a big Belvedere team. Cameron Paterson opened the scoring direct from a corner with help of a deflection, further goals came in the first half from the on fire Andy Howells and Llyod Rimmer. Burscough almost scored what would have been goal of the game with great passing between Owen Laugharne Day, Andy Howells and Cameron Paterson finishing off the move by smashing the ball against the cross bar. Belvederes goal keeper did well to keep the score line down with some fine saves, at the other end Joe Langford was doing the same for burscough as belvedere were quite a handful on the counter attack. Burscough continued to press in the second half and further goals followed. The second half was marred by the unfortunate injury to Cameron Lund who after rounding the goalkeeper and was about to score only to be flattened by the keeper, which resulted in a penalty for Burscough and a fractured wrist for Cameron. Daniel Evans stepped up to blast the ball into the roof of the net for his first goal of the season. Burscough’s defence also put in a rock solid display and good contributions came from Jack Duncan, Jamie Kendall, Sam Shacklady and George Senior as they kept belvedere at bay even with the additional extra player. In a hard fought match, Spartak Burscough under 9, playing away, beat their rivals Ribbleton Green 5-2. This extends their unbeaten run to a remarkable 30 games without defeat since the team was formulated in April of this year. Burscough went 3-0 ahead in the first half and dug deep in the second half, with all seven players warranting a man of the match award. Jamie Eden scored a well-deserved hatrick and Mathew Wright supported him with one goal in each half. However, this win was a real team effort and the boys combined some lovely free-flowing football with hard work and showed a real desire to win. The win takes Burscough four points clear in the premiership of the Mid Lancs Colts JFL. Jason Spencer who shares the management of the team with Andrew Foster said “I`m very proud of the boys who are on a remarkable run. They are a credit to Burscough football club and their parents should be very proud”. Under 9’s Hightown League 8/10/2011 Burscough JFC 8 Great Crosby Colts 1 Burscough Under 9’s played their best football of the season with a convincing win over Great Crosby Colts. Burscough started strongly and Andrew Howells opened upon up the scoring after 5 minutes. Howells then doubled Burscough’s lead with the goal of the game with great interplay with Jamie Kendall, before slotting the ball past the keeper. Cameron Paterson increased Burscough’s lead to make it three and further goals came from Jamie Kendall and LLyod Rimmer with a bursting run through the Crosby midfield. Burscough created further chances in the second half and continued to dominate with Daniel Evans coming close hitting the cross bar. Crosby did manage to pull one goal back but Burscough went onto finish the game off with fine goals by Sam Shacklady (2) and Cameron Paterson. Andy Howells scored a first half hat trick to open up a 3 – 0 lead, Birkdale pulled one back just before the half to make it 3-1. Llyod Rimmer then put Burscough 4-1 up just after the break only for Birkdale to pull another goal back. Further goals from Cameron Paterson, Andy Howells and an own Goal followed, the score line could have been even bigger only for some fine saves by the Birkdale United Goal keeper. Andrew Howells opened up the scoring with a neat finish into the bottom right hand corner. Burscough continued to press and a second goal came just before half time with a 20yard screamer into the top right hand corner from full back Cameron Patterson. Valewood came back at Burscough after the break and pulled one back with a well worked move. Burscough again created a number of chances and Cameron Patterson scored again, this time direct from a free kick into the roof of the net to make it 3-1. Valewood also scored direct from a free kick from their impressive centre half. The game was finally won with a good run from Lloyd Rimmer who rounded the goalkeeper to put the game beyond Valewood. Burscough Man of the Match was Cameron Patterson 9th January 2011 Burscough 3 Mersey Girls 5 Burscough Girls Under 16's played a blinder at home to Mersey Girls despite being two nil down after 27 minutes from a free kick and a poorly defended corner. In truth Burscough should have been two up themselves if they had just finished the excellent chances they created but they chose to wait till the 28th minute before N Proffitt created the opening for C Ince-Burke to finish with aplomb. Eight minutes into the second half another great move saw N Proffitt grab one herself to make it two apiece but another poorly defended corner gave Mersey Girls back the lead. With twenty minutes to go P Boulter drove a brilliant shot from the right hand side into the back of the net to equalise again but, true to form, some terrible defending gave away the lead two minutes later. Mersey Girls finished with their best move of the match with four minutes to go to win the game five three but this really didn't reflect the game where in truth Burscough played the better football. N Proffitt deservedly got the Girl of the Match award for a storming display up front. Team: J Linford, H Watson, C Roach, J Crook, E Stapleton, R Allsop, R Winrow, J Riley Green, G Roughley, C Ince-Burke, P Boulter, H Gallagher, N Proffitt, S Parkinson.
9th January 2011 Burscough U18s played in the LFA Cup competition against Millenium Boys A great display from the lads winning 6-3 which takes them through to the Quarter Finals. Manchester City 5 Burscough 0 Another battling performance from Burscough Girls Under 16's but they were no match for a Man City side that in all but name are an acadamy team. There were some good attacking moves from Burscough but Man City always had the edge against a Burscough defence that lacks mobility and speed. Four nil at half time but at least Burscough held City in the second half to only one more largely due to Girl of The Match J. Linford in goal. Team: J Linford, H Watson, C Roach, J Crook, E Stapleton, R Allsop, R Winrow, J Riley Green, G Roughley, C Ince-Burke, P Boulter, H Gallagher, N Proffitt, S Parkinson Burscough U16s Girls 2 v 3 Academy Juniors 18th September 2010 A brave but ultimately naive performance from Burscough Girls U16's saw them go down three two at home to Academy Girls. Burscough have so much potential especially in attack and this showed when a terrific move, involving P Boulter, new signing H Gallagher and ultimately G Roughley who put the ball in the back of the net, came 21 minutes into the game. Academy are a quality side and kept up the pressure on Burscough which brought reward a minute from half time to make it one one. Burscough started the second half somewhat sluggishly and Academy pounced on this to make it two one within a minute of the re-start and increased their lead after 13 minutes with a well worked move that left the Burscough defence stranded. This seemed to light the blue touch paper under Burscough girls who responded with some magnificent passing and tackling which resulted in P Boulter getting her first of the season with five minutes to play but sadly time ran out. Burscough are re-building this season and it showed in some of their naive positional play but once they get that right watch out! Girl of The Match was the magnificent J Linford in goal who really kept the team in the game, brilliant keeping Linford! Team: J Linford, H Watson, C Roach, J Crook, E Stapleton, R Allsop, R Winrow, J Riley Green, G Roughley, C Ince-Burke, P Boulter, H Gallagher, N Proffitt. Wigan 1 v Burscough 4 Under 16s Girls A great start to the season from Burscough Girls U16's saw them come out four one winners away to Wigan. Within the first minute G Roughley finished off a great attacking move with her first goal and 26 minutes later C Ince-Burke got Buscoughs second after only three minutes on the pitch. Four minutes later relentless Burscough pressure told on Wigan who conceded an own goal to make it three nil at half time. P Boulter started the second half with a brilliant run down the wing but was cynically brought down by the Wigan number four who was lucky to just get a yellow card. Burscough must have thought the game won because they started to lose concentration and pace and in the 23rd minute Wigan were awarded a penalty although the foul appeared to be committed outside the box. It was sweetly struck giving J Linford in goal no chance. Burscough came back to life and six minutes later G Roughley got on the end of a great pass from N Proffitt to get her second and give Burscough a fine win. Girl of the Match went to B Winrow for a fearless display in midfield. Team: J Linford, H Watson, C Roach, J Crook, E Stapleton, R Allsop, R Winrow, J Riley Green, G Roughley, C Ince-Burke, P Boulter, S Parkinson, N Proffitt. LEAGUE WINNERS Craven Minor Under 11 'B' League 01/05/10 Burscough Under 11's needing only a point to win the league drew 2-2 against chamoinship rivals Southport Black yesterday with goals from George Pratt and Dan Senior. Burscough came from behind to lead 2-1 before Southport equalised, but really Burscough could have scored more but for an outstanding display by the Southport keeper. Burscough only lost one game on their way to the title winning it by two points. Well done lads thoroughly deserved it! Craven Minor Under 11 - 20/03/10 Redgate Rovers 4 v Burscough 6 Our away game at Redgate Rovers was something else. After a poor start to the game we were 4 - 1 down at halftime. But an incredible second half fightback gave us a win which looked unlikely at halftime. 4 goals from Isaac Jones [19 in 12 games] Dan Senior 1, and 1 from Jack Onions gave is a brilliant victory - well done lads! Burscough v Dynamo Rangers Burscough U6s played their first match on saturday 13th March against Dynamo Rangers It was a cold day for the new team learning how to keep warm aswell as playing football The game was played in a good spirit with both teams playing well and enjoying the penalties at the end.

Norcross Keeper making some excellent saves, but Burscough kept playing it round and 5 minutes from half time Mike Jenkins with a brilliant solo effort rounded the keeper too make it one nil to Burscough. Second half Norcross came back strong forcing Buscough Keeper Tom Sheffield to make a superb point black save. Burscoughs back 4 managed to keep Norcross out. Burscough then Hit the Cross bar with a superb effort from Jammall Thomason and Blake Winterburn’s effort was tipped onto the post my a magnificent save from the Norcross keeper. Burscough kept it pressuring and 5mins from time Andy Kenyon with a determined strike and follow on sealed the win at 2-0. This means that the Youth Cup Final will be an all Burscough affair between Burscough (Div 1) and Burscough Dynamo (Youth Premier). Burscough Under 15s Girls Challenge Cup WLGFL 6th February 2010 Burscough 2 - 4 Preston North End Burscough girls put up a brave battle against a strong Preston side, we took the lead after 10mins, a burscough corner fluffed by the Preston keeper and a penalty area scramble saw Gemma Roughley bury it. It didn't take long for Preston to equalise about 7 minutes as they kept pressure on constantly, but the Burscough defence did a great job. Megan made a lot of brilliant saves, diving down to the corners of her goal. Sammy had a few good efforts on goal to no avail. Half time score 1-1. Substitutes at second half Alex for Jess and Shennaid for Annie. Preston score two goal within the first 15 mins of second half. Two more substitutes with about 20mins to go Jess for Patsie and Nicole for Abbie. All through the game Heather was outstanding in defence and rightfully got girl of the match. The final score was 4-2 to Preston after Nicole Proffitt converted a well placed corner by Laura, with a fantastic header. LEP League 24th January Galgate 0-4 Burscough Under 17s JFC Its been 3 months since Burscough last played a league game but it didn’t show they started the first half very bright and were looking like taking the lead. Burscough kept any threat from Galgate too a minimum, Burscoughs Mike Jenkins hit the post but both teams still went in at half time 0-0. Second half within minutes Burscough had taken the lead Jammal Thomason getting his first of 2. Burscough took control and dominated and got what they deserved with 2 more well taken goals from Mike Jenkins. Burscough face tuff opposition next week against Norcross & Warbreck in the semi-final of the Syndicate Youth Cup at Preston Sports Arena. Under 15s Girls Preston Norh End 1 v 0 Burscough FC Juniors A much improved performance from Burscough Girls Under 15's away to Preston North End saw them just miss out on a point. The first half could have gone either way with Burscough pushing PNE hard but a poorly defended free kick seven minutes into the second half left the Burscough keeper unsighted and crept into the net. Burscough created one or two chances but PNE attacked in strength and in the end Burscough did well only to lose by the one goal. Girl of the Match went to H Watson for a good all round game and magnificent tackling. Team: M Dyer, A Phiri, P Jackson, H Watson, C Roach, S Blackstock, J Riley Green, L Heron, A Simms, G Roughley, C Ince-Burke, S Parkinson, A Bradshaw, N Proffitt, J Crook. U10’s W.E. 21st/22nd NovemberBURSCOUGH GIRLS 2 CROSBY STUART 1Burscough did what they have threatened to do for a while now.....Win!As soon as the First whistle was blown Burscough where on the attack with Amelia Sanchez operating on the right hand side and Sophie Clarke playing an advanced central role. All the early work and endeavour was from Burscough creating a multitude of chances. Sophie Clarke came closest in the opening minutes with a well taken shot...but a good save from the Crosby keeper. Again it was the Burscough Defence that proved to be impregnable with Olivia Banks playing on the right hand side of a back three, who was leading the way. Surely it would only be a matter of time before a goal! Crosby where having none of it and as Burscough struggled to find the net Crosby began to grow in confidence creating a couple of chances before the break. But it was the second half substitution that changed everything. Jess Carragher picked the ball up straight from the kick off and hit a low shot to the left hand corner giving the Crosby keeper no chance. Burscough carried on pushing for another goal sensing victory was in sight. A great solo run from Jess Carragher down the left, cutting in to rifle a shot that not many keepers would save to make it two nil. At this time Burscough must have thought all three points where in the bag, Crosby had different ideas. Alivia Hutchinson made a couple of good runs down the right but any crosses made into the box where sniffed out by the impressive Olivia Banks. Crosby pushed down their right and worked a corner, a fine ball into the box was volleyed home by Hutchinson. But it was only to be a consolation goal as time had rapidly run out for Crosby. Burscough sw out the remaining minutes comfortably. Again it was a great defensive display from Olivia Banks and Burscough that sealed the victory. Looks like Burscough manager got his Pye and ate it! Craven Minor Under 12 John Disley Cup Formby JSC v BurscoughFC FORMBY JSC - 0 BURSCOUGH FC - 7 Burscough got off to a good start with two early goals from James Jeffers, we kept on pushing in the first half, Angus Cunningham scored the third and Thomas Fairclough got the fourth just before the break. The second half we played some excellent football with more goals coming from Jack Mcgarvey, and Ross Aylmer who scored twice. Another good performance from the boys especilly this week as we were missing a couple of lads due to illness
U15s Girls Birkdale 3 - Burscough 0 – West Lancs Girls League A poor display from Burscough Girls Under 15's saw them orchestrate their own defeat for the second week running this time away to an uninspiring Birkdale team. Naive defending, a non-existant midfield and an attack that couldn't control the ball all contributed to a generally woeful display. That said it took an own goal ten minutes into the second half for Birkdale to get on the score sheet and Burscough could have pulled one back with Roughley, Parkinson and Ince-Burke all having opportunities they couldn't convert. One nil it stayed until the last three minutes of the game when, with Burscough pushing everyone forward, Birkdale seized on the ball to score twice more past a keeper who had difficulty holding on to the ball. Of fourteen Burscough players only a bare handful looked like they wanted to compete and win this game and of those A Phiri stood out as a shining beacon of commitment earning her the Girl of the Match award. Team: M Dyer, A Phiri, P Jackson, H Watson, C Roach, S Blackstock, J Riley Green, L Heron, A Simms, G Roughley, C Ince-Burke, S Parkinson, A Bradshaw, N Proffitt. Birkdale 1 Burscough 0 – U10s Girls- West Lancs Girls League 15/11/09Amy Byrne was the star player on a day she will wonder how Burscough walked away empty handed. The Green army showed their intent when straight from the kick off Striker Jess Callagher sliced through the Birkdale side to execute a fine effort. Birkdale had to rise to the occasion with a response and they did, Taking the game to Burscough for most of the half. What Burscough needed was a strong defensive unit and they had that in the back three of Elise Rimmer, the improving Olivia Banks and the impressive Amy Byrne who is starting to find her feet in her right back position. This is what Burscough needed and they got to grips with the game, Amelia(monkey) Sanchez working in midfield with the tireless Sophie Clarke took the game back to Birkdale. In fairness the game was like two Boxers weighing each other up looking for the killer punch. Burscough made three changes at the interval bringing on Lucy Pretton,Katy Baldwin,Holly Nicholsonl and again went at Birkdale looking for the goal that would surely seal the points. The game was tight, But Burscough had a lapse of concentration at the back and gifted Birkdale an opportunity goal, If only Amy Byrne had not been sidelined. Football it can be a cruel game..for all ages! MOM Amy Byrne Team: Tamsin Caan, Elise Rimmer Capt. , Olivia Banks, Amy Byrne, Holly Nicholson , Lucy Pretton, Katie Baldwin, Sophie Clarke, Amelia Sanchez, Jessica Gallagher
CRAVEN MINOR UNDER 12 FORMBY JSC- 0, BURSCOUGH FC - 5 Burscough got off to a slow start with Formby making things hard for us, we finally got a breakthrough with a goal from Jake Ball, The second half saw goals from Jack McGarvey, Sean Killeen, George Huyton and Nathan Baldwin. A good performance especially in the second half when we played some good football.
Burscough 0 v 1 Town Green U15s Girls 14/11/0 An extremely flat display from Burscough Girls Under 15's saw them go down one nil to Town Green. Burscough looked out of sorts and when Town Green broke away in the nineteenth minute to score Burscough were always chasing the game. In the second half the home side perked up and created chances but it was not until the last ten minutes when they really turned up the gas and could have had two or three. But Town Green played the slightly better football for the best part of the game and probably deserved the win. Girl of the Match for Burscough was M Dyer who had a good game in goal. Team: M Dyer, A Phiri, P Jackson, H Watson, C Roach, S Blackstock, J Riley Green, L Heron, A Simms, G Roughley, C Ince-Burke, S Parkinson, J Crook, A Bradshaw, N Proffitt.
Town Green 1 v 2 Burscough- West Lancs Girls League Challenge Cup. 7th Nov 2009 Burscough Girls Under 15's knocked last seasons Challenge Cup winners, Town Green, in a hard fought match. Within a minute Burscough scored from a corner as A Simms hit it low and hard and 17 minutes later another corner saw Burscough go two up when Parkinson finished well. On the stroke of half time an unfortunate defensive error gave Town Green a glimmer of hope. Burscough relaxed a little in the second half and Town Green could have levelled when a shot hit the post but Burscough defended well and the score stayed two one. Girl of the Match went to C Roach who was excellent in defence. On a wet and windy day this game could have gone either way. But inform Wigan took the earliest of incentives to win the toss and play with the wind behind their backs and the slope in their favour. This did not deter a weakened Burscough side that fought bravely from the off challenging for every ball. But in truth it was only a matter of time before the first goal came and it was only ever going to be a Wigan one. They had made all the play but had not really troubled the Burscough Keeper Tamsin Cann. That is until the 10th Minute when Burscough conceded a corner kick. A well floated cross from the left helped by the wind was undefendable and found the top corner of the Burscough goal. A then well worked move down the left flank again nearly put Burscough behind but luckily the upright of the near post saved Burscough‘s blushes. Burscough bravely carried on against all of the elements for the remainder of the half trying to keep the deficit to a minimum knowing the 2nd half would be a different story. But Wigan kept up the pressure working the excellent Burscough keeper Tamsin Cann, who is growing in confidence with every game. It was 4-0 by half time Was there any way back for Burscough? Well they believed so and after a rallying half time team talk they came out fighting. This is the type of effort managers want from their teams and Burscough pushed hard to get back into this game. With a few tactical changes Burscough looked more balanced and pushed hard for a goal. But the back door was left open and Wigan sneaked in to finish off Burscough with their 5th goal. Where there 5 goals in this game? The score line flattered Wigan and they can thank the toss of a coin and the weather. Burscough can take good team spirit and endeavour from this game and push on to better days. MOM Keeper Tamsin Cann. Burscough U7s Boys - Blue Real Burscough continued with the good form they have started off with this season and made sure that the 100% record was in tact. Man of the match performance came from Llyod Rimmer who dominated the game from start to finish and capped of his fine game with a dazzling run through midfield to score the best goal of the game. Other goals scored in game included one from "sniffer" Cameron Lund, with a typical poachers 1 yard finish. LEP Under 18s League Cup Quarter Final 25th Oct 2009 Burscough 3 – 1 Brigg Brigg started well with an early goal against a 10 man Burscough side. But Burscough fought back and were determined to get an equaliser. It came from Mike Jenkins from a lovely run down the right and he slotted it in near post. Half time came and Burscough took the game to Brigg taking the lead from a superb long range shot from Blake Winterburn. Lee Morton also rattled the bar from a free kick. Brigg came back into it but 2 brilliant saves from keeper Tom Sheffield kept Buscough ahead. 5 Minutes from the end Mike Jenkins scored his second to seal the game. An excellent team performance from Burscough takes them into the semis Bleak Hill 4 v 3 Burscough U15s Girls 24th Oct 2009 Another very slow start cost Burscough Girls Under 15's away to Bleak Hill. Sixteen minutes in a free header in the area gave Bleak Hill their first and three minutes later another free header from a corner put them two up. Four minutes from half time and a good attack saw Burscough striker S Parkinson pull one back. Burscough looked more like it in the second half and within two minutes had equalised after Parkinson scored her second from a very tight angle. But defensively Burscough again looked all at sea and within ten minutes had conceded another two goals through poor marking and indecisive goalkeeping. With 10 minutes to go C Ince-Burke pulled Burscough back again with a finely finished shot again from a tight angle but it was too little too late. Girl of the Match went to S Parkinson for another good attacking performance. Team: M Dyer, A Phiri, P Jackson, H Watson, C Roach, S Blackstock, J Riley Green, L Heron, A Simms, G Roughley, C Ince-Burke, S Parkinson, J Crook. Town Green 2 v 4 Burscough Girls U15s 17th October 2009 Burscough Girls Under 15's upped their game against Town Green to come out four two winners. A flat first half saw C Ince-Burke score in the 12th minute with a shot that crept in low in the left hand corner but on the stroke of half time Town Green equalised after a scramble in the area. In the second half Burscough came out with all guns blazing and in the 16th minute Ince-Burke was there again when the ball came off the Town Green keeper. Two minutes later a fine corner came to S Parkinson who put it away and only one minute after that G Roughley produced a shot from twenty yards out that nearly ripped the net from the goal. Town Green kept their heads up and continued to attack which produced their second goal ten minutes from the end when the Burscough defence spent too long on the ball instead of clearing first time. All in all a fine team performance. Blackstock again played with grit and determination but C Ince-Burke took the Girl of the Match award for a tenacious display. Team: M Dyer, A Phiri, P Jackson, H Watson, S Blackstock, A Bradshaw, J Riley Green, L Heron, A Simms, G Roughley, C Ince-Burke, S Parkinson, N Proffitt, J Crook. Burscough U15s Girls 0 v 6 Preston North End 3/10/09 A game of two halves saw Burscough Girls Under 15's outplayed in both of them by a well organised Preston North End. Seven minutes in PNE went one up from a badly cleared ball and 24 minutes later an attack down the right hand side saw them two up closely followed three minutes later by a long shot that swept over the keepers head. Burscough started the second half well with J Crook, G Roughley and C Burke all having chances in the first ten minutes but once PNE scored again, this time with a well finished header from a corner, Burscough were always on the back foot. Two more goals to PNE, the first a particularly well taken solo run finished off superbly by the striker, put paid to a visibly tiring Burscough team and although Blackstock, Watson, Phiri, Proffitt and Dyer, amongst others, showed occasional defiance this was a poor all round display. As my old teacher used to say, "Could do better!" 'Nuff said. Team: M Dyer, A Phiri, P Jackson, H Watson, S Blackstock, A Bradshaw, J Riley Green, L Heron, A Simms, G Roughley, C Burke, N Proffitt, J Crook. LEP Youth Cup Second Round 4/10/09 Burscough 3-2 Poulton Town Burscough started well enough and had a few chances to take the lead but it was Poulton who went a head. Burscough were not fazed and second half equalised with a goal from Jammal Thomason. Then with what looked certain extra time Burscough Scored with a well taken goal form Mike Jenkins, with only seconds to go the game took another turn with Poulton equalising. Extra time Burscough looked the more likely to score Lee Morton rattling the bar. But defender Mike Edwards from the corner smashed the ball into the net and sealed the tie for Burscough. CRAVEN MINOR UNDER 12 4/10/09 BURSCOUGH - 5, BIRKDALE BLACK - 1 Burscough got off to the usual slow, and Birkdale were hard to break to break down, before the break Jack Mc Garvey broke the deadlock. The second half Burscough got into gear with quick goals from Jack and James Jeffers, Sean Killeen and Jake Walbank making it five, we were cought off side a seveal times, then we gave away a cheap penalty that our keeper nearly saved. Not a great performance but three points, next week away to Formby FC Saturday 03/10/09,Burscough under 11's away to Ainsdale. Result Ainsdale 1 - 9 Burscough For the second sucessive weekend Burscough under 11's have overwhelmed their opponents. Last Saturday they beat Ormskirk West End 9 - 1 and this weekend they again won with a high margin against Ainsdale. Andrew Thomas started the rout with a well taken penalty. Further goals from George Pratt 1, George McManus 1, Jack Onions 1, Will Lomax 1, Jake Whiley 3 and Dan Senior 4, the score could have been higher but for Ainsdales keeper who had an oustanding game. Liverpool County F.A. Under 18s Youth Cup 1st Round Renault FC 0 – 6 Burscough 4th October 2009 Burscough started well with some lovely movement and within 8 minutes were 2 up goals from Jamall Thomason and Lee Morton. Burscough kept control and before half time got another Jake Hodgson getting his first of 3. Second half Burscough lost a bit of rhythm which let Renault back in to the game, Burscough’s defence were up to the task and never really looked like being beaten. Burscough stepped up a gear after 20 mins and sealed the game with a goals from Chris Andrews and 2 more from Jake Hodgson giving him his Hatrick. CRAVEN MINOR UNDER 12 'S - 4th Oct 2009 AINSDALE - 0, BURSCOUGH - 9 Burscough got off to a good start with the first goal coming from new boy Angus Cunningham, it was closely followed by a headed goal from Nathan Baldwin, Burscough piled the pressure on before half time with another from Callum Robinson and Jack McGarvey made it four at the break. Burscough pushed on throughout the second half with Captain Sean Killen scoring a hatrick, Jack and Nathan scored another each. The Ainsdale keeper was made some great saves and without his heroics the score would have been far greater. A good performance from all the team. League Cup - Burscough 2 v 3 Preston North End – West Lancs Girls Football League - 3rd Oct 2009 Burscough Girls Under 15's fell at the first hurdle in the first round of the League Cup against PNE but not without a great fight. Within 45 seconds a shot from last seasons star striker, G Roughley, put Burscough one up. Burscough continued to attack and could have had three or four more goals but a well taken chance, against the run of play, from PNE saw them draw level in the eighth minute. Good goalkeeping from M Dyer and strong defending kept PNE at bay until three minutes into the second half when a PNE corner seemed to mesmerise the Burscough defence who stood and watched as the visitors scored their second. Burscough continued to attack and two or three times the ball just went wide of the PNE net but in the 14th minute PNE were given too long on the ball in the Burscough area and slotted home another. Burscough were defiant and within a minute S Parkinson had the ball and calmly slipped it past the PNE keeper. Burscough kept up the pressure but sadly time ran out for the home team and PNE carried the day, but only just! An outstanding display at right back quite rightly earned P Jackson the Girl of the Match award. Team: M Dyer, A Phiri, C Roach, P Jackson, H Watson, S Blackstock, A Bradshaw, J Riley Green, L Heron, A Simms, G Roughley, C Burke, S Parkinson, N Proffitt, J Crook.
BURSCOUGH - 2, BIRKDALE, 2 U15s Girls This was a top of the table clash last seasons winners Birkdale playing Burscough the runners up, it got of of to a slow start with Birkdale getting most of the play, then half way through the first half Birkdale made the break through with a well worked first goal. The second half saw saw a brighter Burscough surge through with an early goal from center forward James Jeffers, then Birkdale conceded a penalty that was hamered home by George Huyton, The game was even until the last minute when Birkdale scored to make it 2-2. Wigan Athletic 1 v 3 Burscough Girls Burscough 26th September 2009 U15s Girls Girls Under 15's continued their form of the week before by beating Wigan three one. Burscough were up for it from the whistle and attacked the Wigan goal mercilessly to no avail. Then, 15 minutes in, Wigan got a dubious corner which wasn't dealt with and suddenly Wigan were one nil up. Burscough continued to attack but the force field around the Wigan goal kept them at bay. However four minutes into the second half a beautifully worked move led to C Burke threading a pass to S Parkinson who finished in fine style and that was replicated 12 minutes later to put Burscough two up. Seven minutes from the end Parkinson decided to go all the way on her own to bang in her third and give Buscough their first win of the season. Burscoughs midfield again showed excellent strength but who else could get the Girl of the Match award but the hat trick hero S Parkinson. Team: M Dyer, A Phiri, C Roach, P Jackson, H Watson, S Blackstock, A Bradshaw, J Riley Green, L Heron, A Simms, G Roughley, C Burke, S Parkinson, N Proffitt. BURSCOUGH 1 v BOLTON WANDERERS 3 U15s Girls Considering this was their first game of 11 a side football Burscough Girls Under 15's put on a great display against the more experienced Bolton. For the first twenty minutes there was nothing in it with both sides having scoring chances but a defensive lapse in the 23rd minute saw Bolton go one up. Fortune was with Bolton when they scored a second five minutes later from a clearly offside position. Burscough never gave up and a great passing move 14 minutes into the second half saw J Riley Green finish with a brilliant strike. Burscough continued to press Bolton and could have scored more but were denied by some excellent keeping. Unfortunately with Burscough pressing hard Bolton caught them on the break and made it three one with only minutes to play. Girl of the Match, one of the five top class new signings for this season, was Charlie Burke for an outstanding second half. Team: M Dyer, A Phiri, C Roach, P Jackson, H Watson, J Crook, S Blackstock, A Bradshaw, J Riley Green, L Heron, A Simms, G Roughley, C Burke, S Parkinson, N Proffitt.

CRAVEN MINOR UNDER 12 ' S TOWN GREEN - 0, BURSCOUGH FC - 1 This was a very close and hard fought game right from kick off, Burscough took the lead mid way through the first half from a Jack Mcgarvey goal, after hitting the post the cross bar and having a shot cleared off the line. The second half was much of the same with both sides battling to get a goal, we earned a well deserved win against an excellent Town Green side.
| BURSCOUGH U15's v MERSEY GIRLS Burscough Girls Under 15's met a strong Mersey Girls side in the second match of the season. Mersey Girls outplayed Burscough for the first 20 minutes scoring two goals but Burscough rallied and could have got one back just before half time. Straight from kick off in the second half a shot from C Burke just went wide but although Burscough had their moments Mersey Girls were the stronger side and scored three more, the last a fine solo run which went past four defenders before slotting the ball home. Burscough scored a token goal on the stroke of full time when a poorly cleared corner came out to L Heron who finished well. Goalkeeper M Dyer deservedly picked up the Girl of the Match award for a brave display without which Mersey Girls could have been in double figures. Team: M Dyer, A Phiri, C Roach, P Jackson, H Watson, S Blackstock, A Bradshaw, J Riley Green, L Heron, G Roughley, C Burke, S Parkinson, N Proffitt. Date: Saturday, 19 September, 2009, Burscough Under 15's came out with all guns blazing in this third game of the West Lancs Girls Football League against Birkdale. A superb team effort saw Burscough have at least half a dozen chances before a mix up in defence gave Birkdale a lucky lead at half time. Burscough never gave up and kept on coming at Birkdale whose keeper had, and needed to have, an outstanding game. The budding partnership between C Burke and S Parkinson finally bore fruit with a superb passing move resulting in Parkinson scoring her first of the season. Shades of things to come! Burscough could and should have taken the lead with numerous near misses or saves from the Birkdale keeper and Birkdale were lucky to come away with a point at the end. This Burscough team can only get better and better as the new signings gradually gel with the more established players and todays performance rightly earned the whole team The Girl of the Match award. Team: M Dyer, A Phiri, C Roach, P Jackson, H Watson, S Blackstock, A Bradshaw, J Riley Green, L Heron, A Simms, G Roughley, C Burke, S Parkinson, N Proffitt.
